CANADA EQUAL SRHR

Help & Shelter has received approximately 39.5million dollar in Funding from Canada for implementing the EQUAL SRHR project through a collaboration and support by UNFPA (Guyana office).

Help & Shelter is one of three implementing partners for the project action and will be working in regions 1 and 9 offering GBV prevention and intervention services, to the migrant population and host communities.

Some main activities of the Help & Shelter component of the project are to:

  • establish a Safe Space for women and girls in Mabaruma;
  • conduct capacity building training for community-based stakeholders,
  • establish a self-help group to cascade GBV prevention and support activities,
  • establish an essential services referral system and bilingual counselling and psychosocial support.

All project actions will include inter-sectoral collaborations utilizing a MISP approach and having on board the RDCs, MHSSS, MOE and MOH.

The project is to be implemented over a 15-month period and began in October 2022.
