On Sunday 30 May 2010, those who were lucky enough to get tickets (they could have been sold several times over) had a night to remember at the Georgetown Club, when Help & Shelter hosted an Italian Night fundraiser.
Sponsored by Ansa McAl Trading Ltd, it was wonderful evening, with exquisite cuisine provided by Chefs Angelo & Shelly Cofone, owners of Angelo's Italian restaurant of Trinidad. In addition to the good food, wine and company, singers Charles DeFreitas and Jessica Xavier provided musical entertainment and Ansa McAl CEO, Beverley Harper ran a Dutch auction of donated items, which raised nearly $300,000.
The evening was a great success, thanks to everyone involved, raising over $1.5m at the same time as providing an opportunity to advance awareness of Help & Shelter’s work.
It is hoped that Help & Shelter’s Italian Night will become an annual event and continue to raise much needed funds for the continuation of our work.
